Welcome to the 2025 SFMC Season…here are a few important items to be aware of:

  • Sign Ups
  • Weekend Events
    • Men’s club members must play with another member who can attest to your score
    • BLUE tees – are used for all events to compete for both Gross and Net Prizes
    • WHITE tees – players may elect to play from the White tees however you will only compete for Net Prizes
  • If you desire to play the Whitetees you must email Dave  Persaud (dave@gmail.com) who will organize our events through Golf Genius
    • SENIOR MEMBERS – members aged 62 & above have the option of playing in a Senior flight. This flight will be played from the White Tees where you compete for both Gross and Net prizes as well as Player of the Year points. Our legendary members aged 70+ may also choose to play in this flight from the Gold Tees for both gross and net prizes. You can only compete in either the Regular division or Senior division…not both! Please communicate your preference when registering for the weekly event.
    • PRIZES – across all flights, prizes will be awarded for the top 1/3 of all players that post a score
  • Sentinel Maintenance Player of the Year Point Structure
    • Info on how to compete for Player of the Year… www.sterlingfarmsmensclub.com/wtp-player-of-the-year/wtp-player-of-the-year-point-structure/
  • Scoring
    • GOLF GENIUS – all scores must be input into the Golf Genius app during the round, no paper scorecards
    • We ask that you do scoring live as you play your round. It is good practice to have a playing partner score manually to help attest the round prior to leaving the 18th green area
    • It is each player’s responsibility to check that their scores are inputted correctly in Golf Genius and that a completed round shows “F” for finished.  If not, those scores will show up as “DNF” and not qualify for prizes.
    • If you cannot post live, all scores must be posted to Golf Genius within one hour of the completion of your round.  Failure to do so will result in disqualification.
    • On the greens, all putts must go in the hole…no gimmies!
    • As of April 1st, all rounds played in the Northeast must be posted to your GHIN app in order to properly maintain your handicap
    • AUTOMATIC POSTING TO GHIN – scores in weekly events only are posted automatically to GHIN unless communicated otherwise for specific events
    • Other SFMC events must be entered into GHIN by each player manually. Golf Genius will not automatically input these scores.
  • Pace of Play
    • 4 Hours 15 Minutes is Sterling Farms required Pace of Play
    • Sterling Farms management will be monitoring each groups position throughout your round
    • Please keep up with the group ahead at all times to avoid any issues
  • SFMC Weather Policy
  • New Course Ratings & Handicap Allocations by Hole
    • The SGA has worked with local MGA officials to rerate the course.
    • The SFMC will play to the new ratings and handicap allocations in 2025.
  • Local Rules
    • Winter Rules are in effect until further notice…
      • You may lift, clean, & place within one club length in your own fairway and no closer to the hole
      • No relief if you are in the rough or in another fairway
    • Bunkers: Footprints in the bunkers are considered an abnormal course condition therefore you may take free relief from a footprint by removing your ball from the footprint and placing your ball within one foot away and no closer to the hole. You may also take relief outside the bunker for one additional stroke penalty using the-back-on-the-line procedure.
    • New Penalty Area Markings on Holes 11, 12, & 13
      • The hazard lines on 11-12-13 are being repainted to the left side of the cart path so the cart path will no longer be in the penalty area and is now eligible for relief
      • Hole#11 – there will be two drop zones available – ~190 yards to center of green & ~ 150 yards to center…you must use the zone closest to where your ball crossed into the penalty area
  • On Course Etiquette
    • Please remember, you take care of the course, the course will take care of you!!!
    • Rake the sand trap carefully after your shot
    • Repair the ball marks your ball left on the green, and at least one other
    • Fix all of your divots
  • Integrity
    • Golf is a game of honor and the SFMC board takes measures to oversee and ensure our tournaments are being scored honestly and timely. We watch the leaderboards each weekend and take notice of any discrepancies, trends, or potential player abuses of the system. If we find that a member is not abiding by the rules, or if we find evidence of scoring dishonesty or manipulation, the board will take action including disqualification or expulsion from the club.
    • We hope you understand the role you play in both preserving integrity as a player as well as an observer on the course. If ever you spot an infraction, please contact me or one of our board members.
